Description[edit | edit source]

The uppermost section of Jacks Fork is widely regarded as the most beautiful section in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Highlights include Chimney Rock and Ratliff Rapid.

The community often refers to the upper access as simply "The Prongs", but this location actually has two launch sites - see South Prong Access for details about avoiding a difficult portage at the culvert.

Gauge[edit | edit source]

Lower floatable limit: 65-75CFS
Recommended minimum: 100CFS
Unsafe: At 4ft / ~750CFS, this section of river will be closed.

As a general rule for most Ozark streams, 100cfs should be enough water to avoid scraping or needing to walk. Some sections can be floated with as little as 65CFS, but this is only recommended for experienced paddlers that can identify the channel, and will still mean some walking.

Outfitters[edit | edit source]

Overnight floaters can outfit through Windy's or Harvey's, but day floaters may need to arrange for a private shuttle.
